Frizzing: Rik Rakking

In lesson we got taught a new technique which gives a crimp effect to the hair. It involves using a pin and you take a small section and push the pin to the root of the hair and move in a figure of 8 motion. When you reach the bottom you secure it with a pin across and take the hair straighteners and apply heat to it so that it gives the hair the crimped effect when removed.

I think that it gave the hair a lovely effect. I sectioned off a piece of hair between the front backcombed section and the bun at the back and crimped these using that technique. The effect that it gave when i pulled it back towards the bun was really nice and gave a nice crimped/frizz effect. I then pulled them apart slightly just to make it less of a tight crimp/frizz and more soft.

However, i found that it was very time consuming so if i was to include it in my final design i would have to only use small sections of hair because it would waste a lot of time. Also it was time consuming because it was very fiddly. If my model had long hair as well i wouldn't be able to fit all the hair into the pin so that would be a difficulty if i was trying too cover a large section of hair with this effect.

I liked the end result of this, however i don't think i will include it in my design as it is very time consuming and i have to work to a time limit so it may effect my end result. If i do use it i will only use it at the end to finish a piece off if i feel my time management is going well enough to include it.
