I have really enjoyed this first project as it has helped me get to grips with the basics of hair and show me that with just the basics you can create something fantastic. I was very nervous about the hair side of the course as have always leant towards makeup, however i have really enjoyed working with hair and creating different designs and thinking of ways to overcome problems.
The one problem i had with my hair was that it is fairly short and i wanted to create an up do for my final design. Talking to other students and lecturers really helped me when i was lacking ideas and inspiration as to what i could do. Research via the internet, magazines etc really influenced my final designs.
I don't feel that the outcome was what i wanted for the project. My final look was not the style i had designed. This was because my partners commitment wasn't good and she was never able to practice the design on me so i couldn't change anything that she found difficult or didn't understand. I believe that this then led to my design not being created to how i wanted it to look. I didn't get to see her final design until very close to the assessment and i was only able to practice once on her, but at least i got the chance to ask if she'd like to change anything or for me to do things a little differently.
Next time i will practice my designs a lot more and take the time to think about parts i can change and adapt. I think the lack of practice really affected the outcome of my project. However, i still really enjoyed doing this first project and learning new skills that at the start i had no idea about. I really enjoy the blogging part of the course as i have a blog myself and i am very into social media so it's enjoyable to create blogposts.
